I am currently seeking a position as a senior data scientist or data science manager.

I am a full stack data scientist, which means that I can take projects from initial conception to a fully automated application.

Please note the benefit of experience. It has been nearly 45 years since I started college and I have mastered many different disciplines. This is reflected in the chart below. I have worked to perfect my skills through 20 years of formal education, 40 years of work related experience, and 40 years of self-study.

Nov-2021 to Jan-2022: Enterprise Master Person Index Lead, Novant Health

  • Short term consulting position evaluating Master Patient Indexing Plan on an Agile team
  • Evaluated feasibility of using Verato Cloud Based Software as a Service (SaaS) with APIs
  • Evaluated data in Cloud Based Azure and DataBricks using SQL
  • Worked with Data from Epic, SalesForce, and PeopleSoft
  • Evaluated the use of HL7 Object Identifiers (OIDs)

Oct-2021 to Nov-2021: Senior Data Scientist, Dish Network

  • Short term research position to evaluate feasibility of machine learning models in direct marketing.
  • Using Cloud Based Amazon Web Services for analysis of Big Data

Nov-2016 to Aug-2021: Senior Data Scientist in Population Health, CentraCare Health

  • Worked independently to support a team of data analysts and product improvement consultants and reported directly to management up to the vice president level.
  • Worked extensively with Medicare and Medicaid Claims Data
  • Developed a patient matching system that matched patients with over a 99% accuracy.
  • Developed an automated health risk ranking system in SQL and R using Lasso Regression that has a 39% Squared, which is 50% more accurate than commercial models.  This was used in a system wide dashboard that was placed on the home pages of patient charts.  This model was also as accurate for predicting rising risk.
  • Evaluated program efficacy using propensity score matching in R.
  • Used Python to create principal components analyses, KMeans cluster models, Random Forest Models, deep learning models, time series analyses, and graph models  using sklearn, statsmodels, Tensorflow and Keras.
  • Built numerous risk models using ICD10 diagnoses groups in Python
  • Built a web scraper in Python to download and plot COVID19 data from the State of Minnesota, John Hopkins, and the CDC. This was aggregated to an Excel report that was presented weekly to the Vice President in charge of COVID19 responses.
  • Created integrated value based care systems for Medicare and Medicaid in SQL that
  • Built a data warehouse with automated extract transform and load (ETL) procedures in SQL that processed data from several hundred SQL tables.

May-2014 to Jun-2016: Research Specialist, State of West Virginia

  • Coordinated statewide Opioid response program in coordination with HHS, BOP, DOE, Courts, Probation, Corrections, and numerous volunteer organizations.
  • Validated criminal recidivism risk models in SPSS

July-2007 – August 2009: Founder and CEO, Central MN Reentry Project

  • Cofounded a nonprofit prisoner reentry project to help inmates being released
